How to Schedule LinkedIn Posts

How to schedule LinkedIn posts: the built-in scheduler, then a free LinkedIn post scheduler for your profile alongside X, Bluesky and Mastodon.

· 2 min read

With LinkedIn's built-in scheduler

  1. Click Start a post.
  2. Write it, add media.
  3. Click the clock icon next to Post.
  4. Pick a date and time, then Next and Schedule.

Up to three months ahead. Find scheduled posts under the clock icon in the composer. No other platforms, no scripting.

With Statuz

A free CLI for LinkedIn, X, Bluesky and Mastodon. It posts to your personal profile.

Set up once

LinkedIn only lets registered apps post, so locally you use your own LinkedIn developer app (step by step). It takes about five minutes. Or skip it: Statuz Cloud posts with its own LinkedIn app.

Terminal
npm i -g statuz-cli
statuz config set --key linkedin.client-id --value <client id>
statuz config set --key linkedin.client-secret --value <client secret>
statuz accounts connect --platform linkedin
statuz start

The daemon (statuz start) sends scheduled posts. No developer app? Statuz Cloud posts with its own.

Schedule a post

Terminal
statuz posts create --to linkedin --at "tue 8:30am" \
--text "We cut our deploy time from 40 minutes to 6. Three changes did most of it."

--at takes ISO times or words like "next monday 9am". See Scheduling.

With images or a video

statuz posts create --to linkedin --at "wed 9am" --text "Our new office" --media ./office.jpg

Up to 20 images or one MP4 per post.

Long posts

LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters. Several --text values become one post, separated by blank lines, so you can write it in parts:

Terminal
statuz posts create --to linkedin --at "thu 8am" \
--text "What I learned hiring our first ten engineers." \
--text "1. Write the job post after the first week of the role, not before." \
--text "2. Pay for the take-home. Better people do it."

Send the same parts to X or Bluesky and they go out as a thread there.

Also post to X, Bluesky and Mastodon

statuz posts create --text "Release notes are up" --to linkedin --to x --to bluesky --to mastodon

Text is checked against every limit first: X 280, Bluesky 300, Mastodon usually 500.

When to post on LinkedIn

  • Tuesday to Thursday.
  • 7–9am, before work starts in your audience's time zone.
  • Around lunch, 12–1pm.
  • Weekends are quiet for most B2B audiences.

Your own post analytics beat any average.

What works

  • A first line that stands alone; LinkedIn hides the rest behind "see more" after a few lines.
  • One idea per post.
  • Native images or video over links. Put the link in the post, not a comment you add later.
  • A few hashtags at most. See hashtags.
  • Reply to comments in the first hour.
